Motivational Talks in the "Call for Ideas" to Harness BELLA's Connectivity

As part of the Call for Ideas launched by the SPIDER project and RedCLARA to present proposals that leverage BELLA's connectivity, three expert-led talks will be held for interested participants. Each talk, focused on one of the thematic areas (artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital resource utilization) aims to inspire attendees to actively engage, sharing experiences and knowledge.

The first talk, titled "AI for Scientific Discovery Without Borders: The Case of the ALeRCE Astronomical Broker," will be presented by Francisco Forster, Associate Professor at the Department of Astronomy at the University of Chile and Regular Fondecyt Fellow, on March 19th at 12:00 PM (Chile, GMT-3), 4:00 PM (Spain, GMT+1), and 1:00 PM (Portugal, GMT).

The following talks include "Building Secure Digital Bridges: Cybersecurity Frameworks for Intercontinental Research Networks," led by Ana Alves, Coordinator of the National High-Performance Processing Center at Brazil's National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, on March 25th, and "High-Performance Computing as a Catalyst for EU-LAC Scientific Collaboration," delivered by Carla Osthoff, Senior HPC Researcher at Brazil's National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, on March 20th.

The upcoming talks will be announced later. Registration for this talk is available here.

Call for Proposals

The SPIDER project, in collaboration with RedCLARA, launched this "Call for Ideas" aimed at startups, research centers, universities, large scientific infrastructures, and governmental entities interested in developing innovative proposals that leverage BELLA's connectivity. The initiative seeks to promote the development of solutions based on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital resource utilization to strengthen digital transformation and competitiveness in Latin America and Europe.

Participants must submit a concept note addressing the question: How can the digital ecosystem and entrepreneurship be improved using BELLA through solutions in AI, cybersecurity, and digital resource utilization in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe?

Selected proposals will gain visibility, access to specialized mentorship, connections with investors, and the opportunity to pitch their ideas at a final event. The call for proposals opened on March 10th. The registration period closes on March 21st, with the evaluation and selection process taking place between March 26th and 31st. Selected ideas will be announced on April 2nd, and the closing session will be held on April 3rd.
